Show Happenings in Escalante Valley , I &orjia H. MoyU WOMEN'S CLUB Thursday night the annual Club Christmas Party was held at Edith Hunt's home. The past officers were hostesses. An even Ing of fun with "Yatchet" was enjoyed by evervop. Prizes were won by Mrs. Ellen Clark, Mrs. Hills and Mrs. Eva Bosshardt. WOMEN'S CHORUS The chorus members, under the direction of Miriam McGarry, sang a group of songs at the Old Folks' Home at Parowaa Those who sang were Mrs. Bclva Gardner, Mrs. Phyllis Wood, Mrs. Juanita Butler, Mrs. Marty Wood, Mrs. Lou Bracken and Mrs. Edith Force. SUNDAT SCHOOL At the Escalante Valley Sunday Sun-day School's Christmas Program Miss Karen Nielsen, Primary teacher, read Psalm 104 from the Bible, and Jimmy Butler read a child's version of the Psalm. Jimmy also played Silent Night on the piano. SCHOOL Santa Visits th Escalante Vol-ley Vol-ley Friday Night The Escalante Valley School presented an operetta. The Magic Christmas" before a large audience of parents and friends at the community center. The lead roles were played by Veldon Sorenson, Patrice Holt and Sharon Shar-on Jolley. All 85 students participated parti-cipated as children from other lands, puddings, trees, toys, cowboys cow-boys and Indiana under the direction di-rection of teachers George and Leda Jolley and Kay Campbell. Following the operetta, under the direction of the P. T. A., old Santa Claus arrived on the scene to talk with each boy and girl and giye each a sack of candy and nuts. HEBE AND THERE Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hunt and family went to Porttland, Ore, Dec. 8, for the golden wedding anniversary of Mrs. Hunt's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Graves. Parker Graves of Ranson, W. Vir. and Eldon and Donna Graves of Wood burn, Iowa, were also there. Mrs. Hunt had not Been them for ten years. She also has three sisters, two in Portland and one in Seattle. This was the first reunion re-union in seventeen years. One brother of Phoenix, Ariz., was not there. Mr. Hunt and the school children returned home the following fol-lowing Tuesday. Mrs. Hunt and two daughters, Krlstine and Annette An-nette stayed another week visiting visit-ing with her family, returning by train the 18th of December. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Phelps spent last week end at Layton. Utah, with their son Wllburn and his wife Rose Anne. Rose Anne is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Austin Moyle. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Bosshardt's daughter. Mrs. Vicki Stark, is leaving for Hawaii this week-end to spend Christmas with her husband. hus-band. She plans to be there six months. |
