Show legion, Auxiliary Set Good Attendance At Birthday Meeting Cedar City was very well represented rep-resented at the 31th Birthday banquet of the Utah American Legion and American Legion auxiliary held at the Newhouse hotel in Salt Lake City on March 18. At the banquet a mammoth birthday cake was presented to the American Legion by Lona I. Watson, Cedar City, department president of the Auxiliary representing repre-senting the state organization. Mrs. Annie C. Esplin. Cedar City, department chaplain gave the opening prayer, and music was furnished at the banquet by the American Legion Auxiliary trio tf Cedar City, national contest winners of 1950, composed of Luana Riddle, Naida Gardner anil Gladys Isom, with Mary Jane Seaman as accompanist. Elizabeth Perry and Kate Stevenson Steven-son of the Cedar City chapter were selected as color bearers. Other Cedar City people who attended were Sgt-at-arms and .Mrs. Eilas Leigh; Tost Comman-lr Comman-lr and Mrs. Conway Parry; Auxiliary Aux-iliary President Mary N. Bulloch, and Sgt.-at-anns Vera Sherratt. During the banquet Mrs. Watson Wat-son was presented with a bouquet bou-quet of roses by District Commander Com-mander Leslie Anderson for reaching 100 per cent of the membership quota In six months. Besides appearing at the ban- quet program the Cedar City Auxiliary trio was taken to the municipal airport to greet the National Auxiliary president on her arrivel. As she alighted from her plane the trio sang the Auxiliary Aux-iliary theme song of the year. I "The Utah Trail", and then fav- 1 ored here with two of her favorite favor-ite songs. |
