Show Conference Visitors May Attend Book Of Mormon Oratorio A special treat is planned for members of the L D S church; who attend the semi annual conference con-ference in Salt Lake City next week. Arrangements have been made to present the Book of Mormon Oratorio at the Tabernacle on Monday, April 6, the day after Easter, for all those who have requested a chance to hear this brilliant work. This will be the fifth and last time the oratorio will be presented this year. The Utah Symphony orchestra, the combined University of Utah choruses and five outstanding soloists, headed by the nationally national-ly famous Desire Ligcti of the San Francisco opera, will perform per-form in the oratorio under the masterful direction of Maurice Abravanal. The oratorio, the result of almost al-most a lifetime of work by Leray Robertson, professor of music at the University of Utah, has been acclaimed as probably the most significant work ever to be produced pro-duced for or by the L D S church. The decision to present the oratorio ora-torio for this conference session resulted from the many requests from all parts of the country to give people a chance to hear the work who had been unable to attend the previous performances. perform-ances. Tickets for the event are now on sale at the Utah Symphony office at Bennett's, 55 West First South in Salt Lake City. Tickets will be held for those who plan to be in Salt Lake City for the conference. |
