Teachers of the Cedar City schools look over some of the books sent to Iron County by the state department of education edu-cation to be evaluated by local teachers. I "h Teachers Evaluate Text Books in Lanyuage Arts Study Book evaluation time in the local lo-cal schools is now drawing to a close. For the past several months the teachers of the Iron County school district have been busy in all their spare moments evaluating various books in the field of language arts. Ianthus Wright, superintendent, superintend-ent, was chosen as one of eight superintendents in the state to carry on this program In his district. dis-trict. Mrs. Alice Chase, primary school consultant, has been in charge of distributing the books and compiling the evaluations. Through this evaluation process pro-cess the state hopes to have a list of books, for state adoption, that has been chosen and approved ap-proved by the teachers of the state. This will enable the schools to have the very finest and most up-to-date texts in the hands of all the children of Utah, and will provide a more universal univer-sal program throughout the state. The teachers realize this is a long and time consuming project, pro-ject, but it has certainly given them an Insight as to the many fine books that are now available avail-able for use in the schools. |
