Show RICHLAND NEWS On Thursday evening, March 19, Mrs. Florence Hefner and Mrs. Mary Bennlon were hostesses host-esses to the Escalante Valley Women's club at the school house. Following the meeting refreshments re-freshments were served and the I ladies were entertained by the Valley chorus under the dire-tion dire-tion of Mrs. Biriam McGarry. Thursday evening the Beryl 4-II 4-II Livestock club held a box lunch social at the Wells school. All proceeds will go to a worthy charity. Boxes were auctioned off by Tommy Holland. An enjoyable en-joyable time was had by all, with some enjoying square dancing danc-ing and some modern dancing. Just about everyone who run sheep here are in the midst of lambing, making spring work come early this year. Also by the first of April a good many pumps in the valley will be turned on due to the lack of winter storms. On Wednesday, March 11, the Recreation committee held a meeting at the Escalante Valley school to hear remarks from county and school officials. Present Pres-ent were Warren Bulloch, Jess Guymon and Douglas Clark, county commissioners; W. Clair Rowley, county clerlt; Ray Lyman, Ly-man, mayor of Tarowan, Ianthus Wright, superintendent of Iron County schools; Boyd Smith, Herman Her-man E. Bayles, Leo Larson and Samuel Abbott, school board members. The people of this area have been working for two years on a park project, and at the meeting Wednesday films were shown and ideas exchanged. Refreshments Re-freshments were served. |
