Show Scouter Tells Civic Clubs of Youth Activity Opportunity Lewis McClellan, field scout executive ex-ecutive from ths Utah Parks Council, Boy Scouts of America, was guest speaker at two of the civic clubs meetings this week, the Lions and Klwanis. Scouter McClel'an was guest of the clubs in commemoration of Boy Scout Month and Boy Scout week, observed during the month of Februry throughout the world. McClellan discussed the Boy Scout movement and what it meant to the boys who participate partici-pate and what It means for parents par-ents to participate in the program pro-gram with the boys. The professional scouter pointed point-ed out that boys of scouting age are great mlmlckers. A father can set an example and that example will be followed by his son. For that reason he advised parents to set the proper examples and to help them in the scout program by participating in scouting themselves. The Cub Scout program, the program for scouts and explorers, were defined by McClellan. He stated that the Cub Scout program pro-gram simply prepares the boys for scouting. The big difference is that the boys are not allowed to make overnight camps in the Cub Scout program, whereas, is is encouraged in the the scouting and explorer program. |
