Show College Dept. Offers Acting, Debate Courses for Spring A foundation course vital to all prospective teachers will be offered of-fered spring quarter at the College Col-lege of Southern Utah in addition addi-tion to those previously announced, an-nounced, according to Dr. Reese P. Maughan, chairman of the division di-vision of education. The course Is entitled "Introduction "Intro-duction to Teaching," and is catalogued cat-alogued as Education I. It will be taught three days weekly at 11 a. m., and will carry three quarter quar-ter hours of credit, Dr. Maughan - said. Introduction to Teaching is required re-quired in all Utah institutions of higher learning, and is prerequisite prerequi-site to any course in education on the upper division level. It should be taken in the first two years, if possible. The work of the teacher and the opportunities in the field of education will be especially stressed, as well as the qualities teachers In various grade levels should possess. The course also covers a good review of the development de-velopment of education In America Ameri-ca and the educational trends in schools of today. Opportunities . will be afforded stli dents in the courses to see the classroom teacher in actual teaching sltua-tions. sltua-tions. The student who is not certain whether he should plan to enter teaching has an excellent excel-lent chance to make an intelligent intelli-gent decision about the matter on the basis of experience in this course, Dr. Maughan stated.
