Show CSU's Cleo Petty Named NJCAA Region Four Head At a meeting of officials of Region Four of the National Junior Jun-ior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Coach Cleo Petty, director di-rector of athletics at the College of Southern Utah, was chosen as president of the region for the coming year. In addition to the selection of Coach Petty as president, Cedar City was chosen as the site for the 1955 NJCAA tournament. It was also decided that four teams would be asked to participate in the 1956 tournament. The four teams, a change from the policy of the just completed 1955 tournament, will include the host team, the top team In the ICAC, one team from Wyoming and one team from Oregon, a district dis-trict just entering Region Four. Selected as vice president for the region association was. Lawrence Law-rence J. Burton ot Weber. Boise was selected as the site for the tournament in 1957. As is the policy with the NJCAA each of the regions throughout the nation nominate five members frcm that region to be considered for junior college All-American team. . Selections from Region Four included in-cluded Keith Cooley of C S U; Hal Jensen, Snow College; Bob Subic, Weber; Bob Moore, Boise; Bill Davis, Northwest Community College. These selections will be considered by a national selection selec-tion committee. Jensen, a participant partici-pant in the national tournament at Hutchinson, Kan., last year was also selected to the All-American All-American team. He will undoubtedly undoubt-edly receive favorable bid again this year which would make him the first ICAC player to be nominated to the All-American team for two years. |
