Show Iron County Fair Seeks Greater Participation in Hpmemakinq Craits Witii the thought that almost double the space for exhibits in the homemaking departments of the coming Iron County Fair to be held here on Sept. 4 and 5, the heads of these departments are urging all women in the county to make special efforts to prepaic exhibits for this show. It is expected that the new Par-wan Par-wan high school gymnasium will be ready and available for use for these exhibits and this added space will make it possible to have the largest show ever held in these departments of which Mrs. Alice C. Mitchell is chairman. chair-man. Mis. Ella Felstead is chairman of the hand work department, with the following as her assistants: assist-ants: Mrs. Madge Stevens, Mrs. Zilpha Dalton, Mrs. Enid Mitchell Mitch-ell and Mrs. llulda Hulet, Taro-wan, Taro-wan, and Mrs. lone Bradshaw of Cedar City. Mrs. Felstead reminds Relief Society members of the entry of several L D S wards in the county coun-ty in a "Make It From a Sack" contest. The Fair is offering special spe-cial prizes for exhibits of this kind and the state is also offering offer-ing valuable prizes for the same thing. Persons who have articles made from sacks are urged to contact their Relief Society officers. of-ficers. Mrs. Bertha Mitchell is chairman chair-man of a department for exhibiting exhibit-ing articles made by persons of the county over 70 years of age, and she urges all persons of this age group to enter articles in the fair. She asks members of the families of these older people to help them get their exhibits to the lair. Valuable prizes are being be-ing offered in this department as a special inducement for participation parti-cipation in this as well as other depailments of the fair. Governor tl. Bracken Lee has been given an invitation to attend at-tend the Iron County Fair on Saturday, Sept 5, the big day, with the invitation being extended extend-ed by Mayor R. Ray Lyman, it is announced by Thales Brown, president of the Iron County Fair board. Mr. Brown is being assisted on the general committee by the following persons: County Commissioner Com-missioner Jesse Guymon, in charge of display space; J. liar-old liar-old Mitchell, livestock supervisor; supervis-or; Ivan Decker, advertising and premium books, Earl Bunn, crops; VV. F. Mullett, horse show, and V. M. Magleby, judges and educational exhibits. The Red Hill Wranglers is in charge of a horse show and race meet on the last day of the fair. |
