Show SS Board Action Upheld In Appeal Case Action denying a classification appeal and failure of another man to qualify for military service ser-vice soon enough, will result in a change in men to report from Iron county for induction into service on Aug. 12, according to E. B. Dalley, clerk of the board. The classification of John Bleak who had been changed from an industrial deferment classification to 1A has been before be-fore the state and national appeal ap-peal boards for some time. This week however his 1A classification classifica-tion was upheld and as a result he will be ordered to report for induction in August. Bleak had been deferred while he was employed em-ployed by the Syrett Commission company, and when his classification classifi-cation was changed, his employers employ-ers first appealed to the state appeal ap-peal board, and then to the President's Presi-dent's appeal board. The local board action was upheld by both boards and Bleak must report for service. Bevan Higbee of Cedar City had volunteered for induction, and the other two men to report for the four-man quota from the county will be Boyd Sherratt of Cedar City and Garth Gilger of Parowan, it is understood. Blaine Tueller of Logan, a former Cedar City registrant and who has been on an L D S mission, was scheduled sched-uled to report this month if he passed his pro-induction physical physi-cal examination. However, he transferred to the Logan Selective Selec-tive Service board for his examination exam-ination and has not yet qualified quali-fied and since he must be allowed al-lowed 21 days after qualification he will not report in August. There may he one or two other changes before the deadline of Aug. 2 is reached. Six men will report on Aug. 12 for pre-induction physical examinations. ex-aminations. Two men that were to have been ordered to report have been eliminated because of their selective service status. They are Barlow White, who is married and has a child, and Kim Blackett, who is in ROTC. The men who will report for physical examinations are J. L. Barlow, Erold W. Perkins,, George A. Cooper and Clark H. Hirschi, Cedar City; James T. Harris, Parowan, Par-owan, and Henry B. Isom, Kanar-raville. |
