Show Cedar All-Stars Win Victory Over St. George Club (Courtesy Hans Feig) Cedar City Pony League all-stars all-stars traveled to St. George for an inter-city all-star game last Saturday evening and returned home with a 6 to 2 victory to their credit in their first encounter encoun-ter this year. Behind the three-hit pitching of Art Pryor, and the sensational fielding of Ronny Adams at second sec-ond base, the Cedar City all-stars allowed one run in the second and one in the sixth inning. Pryor, Pry-or, besides allowing only three hits struck out 12 St. George all-stars all-stars and gave up only four walks. Twelve all-stars made the trip and the selection for the team was made from all four of the Pony League teams in the city. Following are the 12 players who traveled to 3t. George: Pryor, Kenneth Jones, Johnny Isom and Dana Gardner, Utah Parks team; Boyd Dover, Travis Nelson and Neil Petty, Arden Dairy; Frank Slack, Ray Endsley and Bob Clark, Utah Construction, and Frank Knell and Ronny Adams of the Southern Utah Power. The Cedar City crew, facing two lert -handed pitchers for the first time this season were a lit- tie slow in the hitting department depart-ment collecting only six hits. Clark got two hits in three times at the plate and Petty hit an even .500 with two hits in four tries. The only extra base hit of the evening was made by Wilson,, Wil-son,, the pitcher for St. George, who pounded out a triple. It is expected that this all-star team may schedule more games before the season ends. St. George will probably return the game at Cedar City and a possible pos-sible game with Boulder, Nev., is in the offing. Line score of the Cedar-St. George game is as follows: Cedar 1 1 2 0 0 1 16 St. George 0 1 0 0 0 1 02 |
