Show Three Local Organizations Unite To Sponsor Pioneer Day Proqram m The Cedar City camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, the Sons of Utah Pioneers and the city recreation council have joined in arranging a full day's activities for Pioneer Day, the feature of which will be the honoring hon-oring of the old folks of the com- munity, a public meeting and recreation for the younger people. peo-ple. The public meeting, at which Gustive O. Larson, director of the Cedar L D S Institute of Religion will be the principal speaker, will be held in the First ward chapel in the forenoon. In addition addi-tion to the address by Mr. Larson, Lar-son, the program will feature a medley of Mormon hymns on the piano and organ by Mrs. Virginia Larson and Mrs. Bernel-la Bernel-la Jones, two songs by Sheldon Prestwich, a trumpet solo, "Tramp, Tramp, Tramp", by Richard Hcywood, and two vocal solos, "Hard Times Come Again No More" and ' Doo-Dah Day", 'by Forrest Hunter. Following the meeting all old folks, those over 65 years of age, will be honored at a dinner served at the First ward banquet rooms, after which the honored residents will be the guests of the ttieatre managements at a motion picture show. At 2 p. m. recreation activities will begin on the city park with sports lor the children that will provide entertainment lor the older people as well. At 7 p. m. a children's dance will be neld on the tennis courts at the city park, to be followed by a square dance tor adults later in tne evening. |
