Show Centerville plans celebration With the Fourth of July just around the comer, plans are moving forward for the annual celebration in Centerville. This year's theme is "Let Freedom Ring Around the World. ' ' The morning will begin with a flag raising at 6 a.m. at the Centerville Elementary followed by breakfast at Founders Park on Main Street. This is an "all you can eat chuckwagon breakfast" with ham, eggs, pancakes, hash browns, orange juice and milk served. The cost is $12 per family or $3 for individuals. All proceeds go to Centerville City, The Freedom Fun Run will get underway at 7 a.m. at 300 N. 100 East There will be a 5K for all ages, a 1600 meter for ages 10-12, an 800 meter for ages 7-9, and a 400 meter for children under six. Early registration will take place at Pro Brokers, 200 W. 400 N., Centerville. Call Lyle Davis at 292-4517 for information. Early registration cost for the 5K is $8, or $10 the day of the race. The other races are $6 for early registration and $8 the day of the race. These fees include T-shirts. The annual parade will start at 9 a.m. Anyone wishing to have an entry in the parade should call Joan Steed, 295-4279. Because of the many men and women who recently served in the Middle East, the planning committee has chosen them to be the focal point of the parade. Those serving in Operation Desert Storm are invited to contact Steed to participate in the parade. The parade route will begin at Chase Lane and travel south to Pages Lane. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. there will be exhibits at Centerville Elementary and carnival booths at Founders Park. To participate in the exhibits, contact Frank and Shirley Robles, 295-1306. Those wishing to set up a booth should contact Dale Anderson at 292-2100 or 292-0264. A police auction will begin at 1 1 a.m. The children's parade starts at noon. Children wishing to participate should meet at 300 E. 200 North. There will be continuous entertainment at the outdoor out-door stage at the parl$ from 1-4 p.m. At 7 p.m. the Mt Jubilee Chorus and the Salt City Transfers will perform in concert. |
