Show Researchers seek anxiety sufferers Persons with anxiety disorders are being sought for treatment-oriented treatment-oriented research at the Mood Disorder Dis-order Clinic in the University of Utah medical school's department of psychiatry. The clinic was established nine years ago to evaluate new medications medica-tions not yet available to the public. According to Frederick W. Reimherr, M.D., assistant professor of psychiatry and clinic director, the study will use medications to treat the symptoms of anxiety. There are different kinds of anxiety anxi-ety disorders, including panic attacks, at-tacks, obsessive compulsive disorders dis-orders and general anxiety, and this particular study will focus on panic attacks. Researchers are seeking people who experience a minimum of one major panic attack a week and one mild panic attack in the same week. Some participants in the three-month three-month study will be given medication medica-tion and others will receive a placebo, a harmless preparation used as a control in testing a medication. Volunteers must be 18 or older. Regular visits with a physician will be scheduled between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Medications and associated costs of the study are free.
