Show Local military maneuvers He is a 1990 graduate of View-mont View-mont High School. Coast Guard Fireman Apprentice Thayne A. Binette, son of Elmer D. and Susan L. Weyand of 88 N. Valley View Drive, North Salt Lake, was recently graduated from Coast Guard recruit training. Binette attended the eight-week training at the Coast Guard Training Center, Cape May, N.J. Among the subjects he studied were first aid, Coast Guard history and seamanship, seaman-ship, communications, damage control, con-trol, fire fighting and physical con ditioning. A 1989 graduate of Woods Cross High School, he joined the Coast Guard in January 1991. Lars M. Summerhays has been commissioned a second lieutenant through the Air Force ROTC program pro-gram and has earned a bachelor's degree at Brigham Young University. Univer-sity. Summerhays is the son of Michael E. and Osa J. Summerhays of 1051 N. Hughes St., Centerville. He is a 1985 graduate of View-mont View-mont High School. Marine 2nd Lt. Douglas K. Swiizer, son of Ronald L. and Kathleen H. Switzerof 1071 S. 800 East, Bountiful, was graduated from the Basic School at the Marine Corps Combat Development Command, Com-mand, Quantico, Va. While attending the Basic School, Switzer was prepared, as a newly -commissioned officer, for assignment to the Fleet Marine Force. The 26-week course includes instruction in-struction on land navigation, marksmanship, tactics, military law, personnel administration, Marine Corps history and traditions, communications com-munications and the techniques of military instruction, Switzer is a 1990 graduate of Montana State University, Bozeman, with a bachelor of science degree. He joined the Marine Corps in May 1990. Navy Seaman Recruit Daniel W. ! Freeman, son of Howard W. j Freeman of 1349 N. 400 West, ' Bountiful, has completed recruit training at Recruit Training Com- j mand, San Diego, Calif. During Freeman's eight-week training cycle, he studied general military subjects designed to prepare him for further academic and on-the-job training in one of the ! Navy's 85 basic fields, i His studies included seamanship, close order drill, Naval history and 1 first aid.
