Show Hansens celebrate 50th Si 'f I I r - 5 j rid J ' A Cliff H. and Melba S. Hansen ;elebrated their 50th wedding anniversary an-niversary Thursday, May 23. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, and have lived in Bountiful the past 34 years. Melba was bom in Brigham City, to Frederick Peter and Alice Maude (Rosenbaum) Sorenson. She graduated from Box Elder High and attended Brigham Young College. Melba has shared her love of music with many people over the years, accompanying for, and performing per-forming on church and community programs, composing music for her original, award-winning roadshows, conducting choirs and teaching piano lessons, which she regretfully retired from in 1989. She enjoys reading, music, playing piano, handiwork han-diwork and travel. Cliff was the youngest of ten children, bom on the family's Bear River farm, to Peter Alvin and Lucy Isabelle (Blain) Hansen. He was student body president at Box Elder High and LDS Business College. As a SeaBee in World War II, Cliff was stationed in Rhode Island and served on Okinawa as well. After the war, he returned to the Newspaper Agency Corporation, where he retired as classified advertising adver-tising manager in 1985, having given 46 years of service. During his tenure, Cliff served as president of the WCAA (Western Classified Advertising Association) in 1981, and as president of ANCAM (Association of National Classified Advertising Managers) in 1984. He MR. AND MRS. CLIFF HANSEN was given both the Tony Powderly and Charles Home awards for his dedication and outstanding contributions con-tributions to classified advertising. He enjoys gardening, photography, the ocean and travel. Cliff and Melva are celebrating their anniversary by re-tracing their honeymoon of 50 years ago in southern California. Before they left, their children hosted a dinner in their honor at Finn's, where they were surprised with tickets for a trip to Hawaii. Cliff and Melba have three children: Mary C. (Cathi), Sunnyvale, Sun-nyvale, Calif.; Cliff H, Jr. (Rocky), Englewood, Colo.; Elaine H, Bountiful, Boun-tiful, and two grandchildren. |
