According to the National Weather Service, steady wind with gusts to 60 miles per hour filled the air with dust and sand all across southern Utah, making driving hazardous and causing damage in many communities. Extensive damage was caused when a large horse stall at the Moab Equestrian Center was picked up and dropped on top of another. The Robert Edwards mobile home in Spanish Valley was literally ripped apart in the gale, and Dr. Len Sorenson's camp trailer was tossed on its side.
