Show County chooses 2 firms as causeway precursor By JAMS STUART Staff Writer FARMINGTON Davis County Commissioners chose two engineering firms as a precursor to constructing construc-ting the new Antelope Island causeway. The action, taken at the commission meeting on Wednesday, was taken as a result of the Utah Depart- -mem of Transportation approving the transfer of the causeway to Davis County. According to County Commissioner J. Dell Holbrook, two firms have been chosen to begin preliminary work on the project. Perkins Thurgood Engineering will be conducting an engineering study to redesign the causeway. The Rawlins, Brown and Gunnell Engineering firm was chosen to study the appropriateness of rock and fill for the project. "The Rawlins, Brown and Gunnelll Engineering firm is probably one'of the most knowledgeable firms regarding soils," explained Holbrook. "The firm already has a great deal of redevelopment information, so that should save some money." County Commissioners may be a 'little ambitious,' but if everything falls into place and the weather cooperates, coop-erates, they hope the causeway will be passable by fall. |
