Show Actions speak loudly Dear Editor: One of the most important things a voter can do during election year is to look at the accomplishments of people running for office. Candidates talk about how bad things are and how much better off the public would be if they were elected. But if someone running for office was really serious about solving solv-ing problems they would come forward for-ward with their ideas when they see the problem occurring, not wait until un-til election time. This is very apparent in the Davis County Sheriff race. Harry Jones, the sheriff, has done more than just talk about what he has done. He has worked a long time for the county in the jail, dispatching, paramedics, search and rescue, and other areas that affect our citizens. He has a record of accomplishments ac-complishments and genuine concern con-cern for our county. I can't see much involvement or accomplishment accomplish-ment in either Davis or Weber county by Jones' opponent, who works in Weber County. Maybe he works all right for his city, but I haven't heard of him doing much for the county. Electing people to represent the public is very important. We need to look at what they have done in the past, because once they are elected, they can do whatever they want. Andrew Lyday West Point |
