Show Reader disappointed Dear Editor: As a friend and neighbor of Kenley and Celestia Brunsdale I was disappointed at the letter written by Ted Powell in the Clipper of Aug. 15. Obviously Powell doesn't know that Celestia Brunsdale is Mrs. Recycling. Celestia Brunsdale has devoted literally hundreds of hours of her time to get a recycling program going go-ing in Bountiful. She saw a need and got involved. She started all of her efforts in September 1989, before her husband entered the Congressional race, and since then Did you know, Mr. Powell, that Bountiful City received a national award for her efforts in establishing the Bountiful Recycling program which is being used as a model in communities throughout the state? Did you know, Mr. Powell, that Kenley Brunsdale carried a sign in the parade that said "Isn't my wife terrific!"? Is there something wrong with a husband and son supporting sup-porting their wife and mother to celebrate her achievements? Anyone who knows the Brunsdales knows how energetic, enthusiastic and driven they are. They are people who see a need and "Do It." Yes Kenley Brunsdale is running for Congress and is energetically working to stop the pipeline when the rest of our "elected" officials have thrown in the towel. But does that preclude him from sharing the day when his wife was spotlighted for her achievements? achiev-ements? Celestia Brunsdale has given her whole heart to Bountiful' s recycling program. The recycling program's representation in the parade had nothing to do with the political affiliation af-filiation of her husband. Get your facts straight! Anne Clegg has accomplished many things. Did you know, Mr. Powell, that Celestia Brunsdale has given more than 100 lectures to the various schools, churches and civic organizations in Davis County and across the state since January? Did you know, Mr. Powell, that Celestia Brunsdale is responsible for the placement of recycling bins not only in Bountiful but in many communities throughout the state? Did you know, Mr. Powell, that Celestia Brunsdale is responsible for the only community Earth Day activity in Davis County; the planting plan-ting of 200 trees in Mueller Park and two flowering cherry trees next to the public safety building? |
