Show WIC offices moving By SCOTT SUMMERILL FARMINGTONThe Davis County Women, Infant and Children (WIC) program will be eliminating the Farmington office and changing the location of the Layton office on Oct. 1 . Currently, clients from north Kaysville are required to attend classes at the Layton WIC center in the Humana North Medical Center and travel to the Farmington office to get certified for the program. On Oct 1, both offices will be vacated, and clients will have to go to the new office at 360 Fort Lane, Complex Com-plex 110 in Layton. According to WIC Supervisor Colleen Fechser, the move will benefit a majority of the program's clients because about 75 percent live in the Clearfield, Layton and 4 Syracus area. The other big pocket of WIC program recipients live in North Salt Lake and will continue to receive service from the Bountiful office. WlC provides nutritional assistance to high risk children, pregnant and breast-feeding mothers and infants under five years old from low income families. "We used to provide dietary supplements for all low income families," Fechser said. "But there just isn't enough money. Now we have to focus on high risk children. Parents should not avoid coming in to fee if they can qualify even if they think their children are healthy.' Fechser said those people with questions, or who need more information, infor-mation, should call the WIC office at 451-5605. |
