"We have had a lot of delays due to the fact that the building did not fit on the lot. We've had to put in a new storm drain system, and add a dock that was not in the original plan," he said. Bates said he feels confident that the company will be able to meet the Sept. 10 deadline. NORTH SALT LAKE City officials are frustrated over the length of time it is taking to complete com-plete construction of the new North Salt Lake post office. Ground was broken on the facility, facili-ty, located at 400 N. Hwy. 89, in February with a predicted completion comple-tion date of early May. Since that time the contractor, Bates Construction, Construc-tion, has set numerous deadlines which have not been met. Mayor Jake Simmons said the city is "getting blamed" for the delays. He added the city has no control over the contractor. According to one North Salt Lake Post Office employee, "The latest is that the building will be finished fin-ished on Sept. 5, but we've been given so many dates that I can't believe what I'm told." Public Affairs officer for the United States Post Office Salt Lake Branch, Beverly Burch said the post office is renting the building from the contractor.
