Clary holds an associate degree in law enforcement with many years of practical "on the street" experience. Glenn T. Clary, a 32-year law-enforcement law-enforcement veteran, is seeking the position of Davis County Sheriff. Clary, a resident of Layton, has been police chief of Riverdale since 1983. He started his law enforcement enforce-ment career in 1957 as a patrolman for the Sunset Police Department. He was an investigator for the Davis County Sheriffs Department from 1961 to 1964 before taking a deputy job in the Orange County Sheriffs Department in California where he served for 1 8 years. Clary believes that the crimes of the 90s will be gang related. "Where gangs operate, drugs and violence occur," he said. He has actively ac-tively worked with gangs on the street and with prison gang members in the county jail. He has also worked with felony and fugitive warrants, patrol, auto theft, burglary, armed robbery and homi- His goals, if elected, include instilling in-stilling increased morale among the sheriffs department employees and setting up proper grievance channels in the department, saving taxpayers $55,000 per year by eliminating elim-inating one chief deputy position and distributing the work force better to give more effective police protection to citizens living in unincorporated unin-corporated and contract city areas. Other goals include establishing better working relations between the sheriffs department and other police agencies, opening the new jail complex in sections as needed (he worked in the Orange County jail containing over 2,000 inmates). Another goal is to initiate a new I drug education program in the ! county school system that supplements sup-plements the already established |
