Show UMTA announces calendar assist teachers in achieving certification, cer-tification, which is state and national accreditation, and recognizes recog-nizes a high level of proficiency in teaching skills. The Utah Music Teachers' Association is affiliated federally with the Music Teachers National Association. The officers of the Davis Chapter for the 1990-91 year are: president, Coila Robinson; vice-president, Elaine Beckstrand; secretarytreasurer, Beverly Ellis; student achievement chairperson, Geri Cheney and assistant, Mary Boswell; certification chairperson, JoAnn Jones; public relations chairpersons, Susan Cheney and Dorothy Johnson. Davis County can be proud of this group's outstanding cultural contribution through advancing the quality of musical instruction and performance in the community. By MICHELLE EMERY The Davis County Chapter of the Utah Music Teachers Association (UTMA) has scheduled some very informative and exciting speakers for the 1990-91 calendar. The first speaker will be Dr. Irene Perry, a world-renowned musician affiliated with BYU. She will speak on Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. Her topic will be "Technique II-developing II-developing technique beyond the elementary level " The lecture will cost $5, and more information will be found in next week's issue of the Clipper. All members, newcomers, visitors and eavesdroppers of all musical varieties are welcome to this and all meetings. Other meetings planned for this fall and winter include Mack J. Wilberg of BYU with a lesson on accompanying, Annette Bradshaw with a music plus class on studio facilities and policies, and Judy Lee has a lesson on games. The UTMA State Convention will be held on Nov. 9 and 10 at Utah State University and will be a must for anyone seeking excellence in music instruction. UMTA hopes to encourage and |
