Show Heart volunteers increase An increase in volunter support, a greater state research effort and a better public explanation of how donations are used are the main goals of the new president of the Utah Heart Association. Dr. Leland S. Briggs, a Provo cardiologist, outlined his objectives for the coming program year at recent meeting of the U.H.A. executive committee. Dr. Briggs was particularly par-ticularly concerned with cultivating volunteers outside the Salt Lake area. He hopes to do this by seeking support of Utahns attending state universities, colleges and trade schools. "We can do a great deal for young people in helping them avoid cardivascular disease the best form of preventive medicine," Dr. Briggs wanted Utah researchers to know that local Heart Association money is available. "Our problem in the past has been a lack of grant applications. ap-plications. We can't finance large research projects, but we have provided the seed money for many projects." |
