Show Beatty top player After hauling in the 42-yard, 42-yard, picture-perfect TD lob which made the difference in Cedar's 14-7 win over Dixie, Beatty trotted over in front of the Cedar boosters and did a flip. Gymnastic experts attending the game would have given the flip about an 8.4; CHS partisans gave the catch a 10. Beatty, quarterback David Carter and Coach Dave Jenson should all take a bow for the deciding TD. After last week's Player of the Week Neil Bladen forced a Dixie fumble on a punt reception, the Redmen were in business on the Flyer 42. Jenson decided to go after the Dixie squad while they were down, calling the "bomb" on the first play. The winning TD resulted. The enthusiastic Beatty was among the most vociferous Redmen after his team was able to hold on to the touchdown lead, and Head Coach Dave Jenson was almost as enthusiastic in describing Beatty's part in the winning play. "He ran a good deep route, but just mainly flat-out ran. We were finally able to get the ball to him," said Jenson. Beatty will be awarded a certificate from The Iron County Record recognizing him as the week's top player. Rusty Beatty Rusty Beatty flipped over the catch which earned him selection as this week's Cedar High School Player of the Week-literally. |
