The others will be right up there also. Cedar's girls' tennis team improved its match play record to 3-3 with twin victories during the past week. The squad claimed a forfeit win over Dixie in a match scheduled for Sept. 2 29. "They just dropped out of the league, I guess," said Coach Sandy Taylor. "They let us know two or three days before the match they wouldn't be coming up." The girls did get to play Monday, and came up with a 3-2 match win over Payson. Monica Swain was Cedar's number one singles player, losing her match 3-6,6-3,4-6. "Monica is going to be a super player," said Mrs. Taylor. "She played against Payson's top player who had not lost a match all year, and Monica almost beat her. She's just a freshman now, and has a long road ahead of her." Number two single's player Dana Giles won her match 6-1, 6-2, and the number three player Kris Webster took her's 6-0,6-2. The number two double's team of Andrea Jenkins and Marcie Hancock claimed the other Cedar point, routing their opponents 6-0,6-0. The number one double's team of Jennifer Hunter and Janae Bick-more Bick-more lost their match 0-6,3-6. Cedar will participate in the divisional championship cham-pionship Tuesday and |
