Show Little League football Chiefs, Cowboys victorious With the little league season half over, the win loss record stands as follows : U&S Motors (Spirits) 2-1 Elks (Chiefs) 2-1 Cedar Theatre (Cowboys) 1-2 Lin's & Sherrif's (Trojans) 1-2 The 9 a.m. game Saturday saw the Spirits suffering their first defeat at the hands of the Chiefs. In the first quarter, quartback Chris Weaver completed a 38-yard 38-yard pass to Bob Blackner for a touchdown and they teamed up again for the extra point to put the Spirits out in front 7-0 The Chiefs tied it up in the second quarter when Robbie Dean pushed over for the touchdown and Richie Stubbs got the extra point. The game remained tied up throughout the third quarter by the last period of play was Jeff Heap going over for a touchdown touch-down for the Chiefs and Boyd Esplin getting the extra point. The Spirits turned around and tied it up again when Weaver pushed across for six points and Bobby Schexsnayder went over for the extra point. With 40 seconds to go the Chiefs started a drive for the winning TD and with only a fraction of a second to go, Boyd Esplin struggled across for a 20-14 20-14 win over the Spirits. In the second game of the day, the Cowboys had a good running game to defeat the Trojans 26-12. Travis Skougaaard ran 25 yards and Curtis Jones 44 for a touchdown a piece, with Mike Middleton taking both extra points across. In the third quarter, Richard Roundy took a 63-yard run and in the fourth it was Richard Gardner who ran 60. For the Trojans, Mark Covinton ran 60 yards on a kickoff return and in the third quarter Brady Englestead pushed across one yard for the second touchdown. This afternoon at 5:30, the Trojans are scheduled to meet the Cowboys. Saturday at 9 a.m., the Spirits will meet the Cowboys and at 11 a.m. the Trojans meet the Chiefs. |
