Show Census figures show 42 growth creased by 22 percent, but did increase the total population by 2001 people, from 8,946 in 1970 to 10,947 in 1980. Paragonah increased only 13 percent. Brian Head has been incorporated in-corporated since 1970 and thus was not included in that census. There are currently 70 residents of Brian Head, according to the official count. Even with Brian Head incorporating and Enoch annexating large areas of land, the number of people living in the unincorporated areas of the county has increased 165 percent, from 1209 to 3204 people. According to the Census Bureau, these figures are subject to revision and will be superceded by the final population counts which must be turned over to the President of the United States by Jan.l, 1981. . According to the preliminary census released recently, Iron County's growth rate exceeded the growth rate of the State of Utah as a whole. The population of the entire state increased 35 percent during the 1970's, while the population of Iron County increased from 12,177 to 17,304, a 42 percent increase. Much of that increase came in the once tiny town of Enoch, which grew a phenomenal 465 percent during the ten-year ten-year period. Much of that growth has come as a result of annexation, but doesn't include the recent annexation of Garden Park, Cottonwood and Spanish Trails subdivisions. sub-divisions.
