Show Camp May Ruple DUP Camp May Rupple Daughters of the Utah Pioneers held their March meeting at the home ot Jennie Hullinger with Marjory Aklund as co-hostess. Lunch was served to 13 members and one guest, Mrs. Ada Murray, who will soon become a member. Prayer was by Alberta Oaks, Pledge of Allegiance was by Captain Lyla Bennion. Melba W'oodhouse gave the history of her grandmother, grand-mother, Ann Gower Lunt, thp third wife of Henrv Lunt. When Ann and her family came to America from England, a terrible wind came up when there were quite close to land and blew their sailing shop back out to sea and delayed their landing for five days. Later Ann married Henry Lunt and they came toUtah and lived on a farm. Mr. Lunt soon married a fourth wife. The wives were all very good friends and did many things to help each other with their families. They would take their babies with them to the fields to shuck grain. They made molasses out of carrots. Ann made beautiful hats and baskets of straw and reeds and was also very adept at spinning and weaving. She died at thcageof75 and Mr. Lunt died in 1902. |
