Scuba diving classes spur interest in sport Interest in scuba diving is developing in the Vernal area as more classes are being offered and those offered are being filled. An 8-member class finished up their pool training last week and are ready for six open water dives required for certification. Most of the divers who took the class did so "because it was fun," but several were becoming trained for search and rescue, Kirk Bowden, scuba student said. The class was offered by Cross International In-ternational Divers of Orem, Utah. It consisted of five, four-hour sessions with two hours of each session being in class instruction. Some of the in-class instruction includes in-cludes diving safety, decompression, and use of equipment. George Millecam, manager of the Vernal Municipal Pool, said that there are several scuba diving classes using the pool. Three weeks ago a 20-member class finished up, Millecam said. He hoped the increased interest in scuba diving would warrant financing a compressor to fill air tanks to be located at the pool. There will be a scuba experience March 27 at the Vernal Municipal Pool. The experience will give participants the opportunity to try on some of the equipment and wet their feet for a glimpse of what scuba diving is all about. Those interested in scuba classes or the scuba experience should contact Kirk Bowden 789-2581. f " " I 1 - w . ... . x - V'.A ' ; !
