Show Opportunity for range improvement There is an opportunity in the State of Utah which landowners, ranchers and farmers are overlooking in the Uintah Basin, the Range Development Fund. The Range Development Fund is a revolving fund which the borrower has up to fifteen years to pay back. The money is borrowed at a 1 to 4 percent interest rate and is to be used strictly for range improvements. Improvements Im-provements can include fencing, brush control, range seeding, development of livestock water or any other practice that would improve the rangeland on private or state lands. To apply for the Rangcland Development Fund contact either the Soil Conservation Service or the Soil Conservation District Board. A range plan is then developed by a Soil Conservation Con-servation Service Range Specialist and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources with each borrower. The borrower then presents his plan to the local Soil Conservation District and then the plan is sent to the State Soil Commission for approval. State law requires that (he loan be secured with real estate. Only in a few cases has a loan not been made because of security problems. This program has increased livestock production three to ten times In treated areas. This Is too good of an opportunity for landowners, ranchers and fanners to pass up. Anyone interested in the Knngclnnd Development Fund Is encouraged to contact the Soil Conservation Service or your Soil Conservation District. Vernal SCS Office telephone number Is 7119 2100.
