Show FORMER STUDENT !S GIVEN WELCOME Annie Pike Greenwood Is Guest of Honor at B. Y IL Exercises. Special to The Tribune. PROVO, May 22. Annie Pike (i'eeii-wood, (i'eeii-wood, who, twenty years ago, won lienors for the Brigham Young university as a storyteller, was the guest of honor at the "Girls' day" exercises in colleeg hall this morning. She was greeted with a hearty round of applause. Many of her former school chums and teachers were among tho audience. The singing of the college song, of which Mrs. Greenwood Is the author, brought a flood of memories of her girlhood days, and fhe told of some of her earliest resolutions. Among these, Mrs. Greenwood Green-wood declared that she would never marry a farmer. She kept her resolution, but life's varied paths have brought her to tho farm, and she now declares that she world rather set a hen than ea,t a meal. Mrs. Greenwood read a number of her own poems, all of which were received with applause. This afternoon a reception was tendered to Mrs Greenwood in the ladles' gymnasium. MUs Vest a Pierco, winner of the girls prize story contest, told ir. an effective manner a romantic Indian story. A program of vocal and instrumental music made an enjoyable occasion. Tonight Mrs. Greenwood was entertained by friends at the Uppur Falls resort hi Provo canyon. |
