WASHINGTON, May 22. Professor David Todd, director of Amherst college col-lege astronomical observatory, will photograph the. solar eclipse of May 29 from a seaplane at an altitude of between be-tween 10,000 and 15,000 feet. Professor Profes-sor Todd sailed recently for Montevideo, Monte-video, where he will make his usual scientific observations and photographs. He was accompanied by Ensigns G. ,L. Richar and V. H. Cushing and four other navy men. They will be in charge of the hydroplane which has been shipped to Montevideo, from which the photographs will be made. The eclipse is expected to last only six minutes and fifty seconds. Tbe purpose pur-pose of the flight is to make pictures above the cloud zone, with better results re-sults than those made on earth. |
