Iliff. which occurred iu Denver on Friday, has removed from all earthly activity and cure one of the iblest, and best loved champions of Iho.right. in this section sec-tion of Die United States, and his work will long be remembered by those among whom lie labored in the missionary field of L'lab and Idaho. He was a militant Methodist., and he preached the Word with nil Din force, and vigor at his command. com-mand. Vrl he was a man of infinite patience, (1f the most kindly feeling and considerate Id a superlative degree. He was a veteran nfllie civil war, and slioit'v nfler its close began his career ns a missionary, a work for which he mis qualified in every respect, ami in which ho was eminently successful. News of Die dealh of I ) r. Iliff will be received with something of a shock by the people of all denominations in Salt' Lake who had the honor of a personal acquaintance with the truly great man, for ho was robust in spite of his years, and it had been fondly hoped that he would be spared for a long time to come. But man proposes and God disposes, and now that the Maker of all things has summoned this tireless worker to his reward, we bow our heads in humble submission and bid farewell to a fearless fear-less Christian missionary, a patriotic citizen, a kind husband . and loving fathor. |
