Show SUSPEND SENTENCE IN COAL THEFT CASE Special to The Tribune. OGDEX. Feb. 23 Ezra Colviu, charged with the theft of two loads of coal from a boxcar in the Denver & Kio Grande yards on Thursday evening, was given a" suspended sentence in the municipal court this morning by Judge George S. Barker. It was brought out by Sergeant .1. F. Kelliher. who had investigated the case, that Colvin was partly paralyzed and was making an effort to support his aged grandmother and keep the three small children of a dead sister. Colvin said that the money he makes at sheep herding was not sufficient to buv food and fuel. He added that he would rather steal the coal than become be-come a county charge. In announcing the suspended sentence sen-tence the court warned the man against further thefts and told him if he was in want, there were the proper authorities to whom he could appeal. |
