Patriots in Homes Asked to Help Sons and Brothers at Front UTAH again, through the federal food administrartiorn, strides forward as the first state to put into active operation a splended new food conservation movement, move-ment, which all the other states must soon emulate. The Housewives' Vigilance league, set rolling onward this past week, has j been in active operation two months in : the city of New York, where it was j 6tarted by the New York Herald, and has been so huge a success that Herbert Hoover has been watching it keenly, and has expressed the hope that later on he might be able to put the vast maehinerv at work to introduce it into all the states of the union. It will be recalled with pride that Utah was the first and only state that went to work, through the council of defense, Mormon church, and the women's wo-men's organizations, for home pledge cards, and had 52',0'JO signed, sealed ami delivered at the office of the federal food administration, while the other nates needed a second urge for the drive before their efforts culminated in success. ! The accomplishments of the I nited States food administration may be slightly different from the popular conception of what thev should have been, but on the whole the food administration has handled han-dled the available American food sources and supplies with the supreme su-preme ultimate object of helpiuc to win the war bv getting that tond abuudantiv produced, carefully care-fully conserved and eeonomicallv manufactured and distributed to strategic points. Its great task i has been and will continue to be to ad.T.iuister American food resources re-sources so that the American and allied morale will not be lowered through lack of food. To Eliminate Waste. To begin with, the great task is to eliminate waste, hoarding, profiteering, prof-iteering, and to urge, urge, 'urge conservation upon the people.
