Show PERCENTAGE LOW IN :-flAFT ACCEPTANCES Only Twenty-eight Held of Eighty-three Taking Board No. 1 Test. CALLS ARE: ISSUED Poor Showing Yesterday Due to Appearance of Those Before Rejected. . Eighty-throe men were physically examined ex-amined yesterday by the local draft board 0f division No. 1 and twenty-eight were accepted for general military service. ceven were found fit only for special ser-v,ce. ser-v,ce. not having the physical qualifications necwjjry for soldiers in the field. The LvnTder were rejected. ' The low percentage of accepted men in this examination is accounted for in the fact that many of the registrants examined exam-ined yesterday had been physically rejected re-jected under the first draft. The classification classi-fication in this division has been completed com-pleted with the exception that some of the questionnaires were mailed to places so far away that responses could not have been reasonably expected by this time. A few went so far even as South Africa. More registrants will be examined by board No. 1 this morning, commencing at 7 o'clock, and board No. 2 will physically physical-ly examine another lot tomorrow morning, morn-ing, beginning at 9 o'clock, while board No. 4 will also examine, men tomorrow r.iorning at H o'clock. Board No. S will commence physical examination at !) o'clock, next Monday morning, board No. 4 resuming its examinations on Tuesday Tues-day morning at 9 o'clock. Captain F. V. Fltz Gerald. United States draft disbursing agent for Utah, was yesterday yes-terday advised by General E. H. Crowded Crow-ded that some boards have not begun physical examinations, but Captain Fltz lierald says that this cfoes not apply to Utah. lie nevertheless advises local boards in this state to expedite this work to tiie utmost. Captain A. J. Mechin of the Ulah adjutant adju-tant general's office, is calling for more help in the coming work of making a card index of all registrants, lie asks volunteers volun-teers to notify his office by letter of their willingness to serve, saying that the bulk of the work will bo done in the evenings at the rapitol. Inasmuch as each card contains forty-two questions 1o which answers must be written in, the task is going to be a considerable one, according to Captain Mechin. Division 2 Issues Call.
