Show SOCIALIST EJECTED FROM MITCHELL S. D.: i i Meeting of People's Council of America Broken Up by-Indignant by-Indignant Citizens. MITCHELL, S. D., Jan. 23. William Crempfer of Parkston, S. P., executive secretary of the South Dakota branch, of the People's Council of America, and a delegate to the state convention of the Socialist party here, was, forcibly ejected from Mitchell today and the convention j which he was attending broken up. Thi I action, it is said, w-as based upon reports that Rempfer instituted seditious activities activi-ties at the meeting. The convention of the Socialists was broken up by local o-lice o-lice on orders of Mayor J. K. Wells. Rem per' s ejection from the city came late today. He was "captured" on the street by five unknown men and hustled into an automobile, in which ho was driven five miles from town. There lie was set out upon the prairie, aim, according ac-cording to reports, was told to proceed afoot to his home in Parkston and warned not to return to Mitchell. No violence was done to Rempfer. Parkston is about thirty miles from Mitchell. The meeting of the. Socialists, attended by about thirty delegates, opened last night under sanction of city officials in the city hall auditorium. Police officials last night, it is sa id, discovered that Rempfer was the g-uidln spirit of the convention. According to the police, Fiempfer drafted the platform which was under consideration by i he delegn te:i. Mayor Wells, who was at Sioux Falls, on advices from the police here, wired and ordered that no Pempfcr meetings should be permitted. The police thereupon there-upon broke up the convention. Announcement was made by t he po lice, however, that the Socialists would : he permitted to hold meetings here but : that. Rempfer would not he allowed to ' dominate them.
