Show POST WAR COMMERCE . WILL BEJGOHSIDERED Manufacturers' Association of Utah to Take Early Action on Ultimatum. A request that the Manufacturers' Association As-sociation of Utah take immediate action upon the referendum of the business men of America to the business men of Germany Ger-many relative to trade after the war was received yesterday by Secretary A, C. Rees of the "Utah organization. The request came from the National Chamber of Commerce, which has prepared pre-pared and sent out to all affiliated organizations or-ganizations of the country a re fere nd urn which is to the effect that 'the business men of the United States will trade with the business men of Germany following the war if Germany will establish a government responsible to the people, but will not trade with them if this is not done. This referendum is to be acted upon by all the manufacturing and other business organizations affiliated with the National Chamber of Commerce and then the result, re-sult, with the ultimatum, will be sent to Germany for publication in neutral papers pa-pers of that and other countries, that the German business men may know the attitude at-titude of the American business "men relative rel-ative to trade conditions following the war. As Germany must depend upon this ; country largely for raw materials alter j the present conflict, it is believed that the j expression of an attitude of this sort will I have a powerful effect upon bringing j about a democratic form of government j in Germany. i Secretary Rees announced yeslcrday j that the Utah association will take for- ' mal action at a near f uture meeting. ! Mr. Rees spent a part of yesterday in Ogden in conference with IL L. Harrington Harring-ton of that city relative to various phases of committee work in behalf of the.
