Show PREXY LANE SEEKS WAR TAX RULINGS President Billy Uane of the Bees has placed in the hands of internal revenue officials a series of points upon which he seeks enlightenment, in respect to the war tax collections. At the annual meet-ins meet-ins of the league at Los Angeles it was agreed that the straight war tax requirements re-quirements of the government should be added to the cost of admission at all Coast league parks. That much, then, is clear, but several other questions have arisen upon which the local officials seek elucidation. For example, there is the women's coupon book. How much and how is the war tax to be collected upon the free coupons in the books? Also in regard to boxes, how much war tax goes onto a season box ticket, and does the holder pay on the basis of the entire season or upon a basis of games at which he uses the box? Also, once more, seat son passes. Does the club collect the tax on a basis of ninety-six games, assuming as-suming that ninety-six games are scheduled sched-uled for Salt Iake, or does he pay every time he uses his pass? These are some of the matters upon which the internal revenue officials are asked to make a ruling. Since the Coast league opens long before any other league, the determination of the points in doubt cannot be put over to be solved on precedents set by other leagues. Lane reported yesterday that he had no further word from Manager Walter McCredie, but that he expected the big skipper to return about February 1. Coincident Co-incident with the return of McCredie, Business Manager Cook will make, his appen ranee and the two will then proceed to fill out and mail contracts to the plavers. Within a week or ten days, therefore, the old wheel of baseball will begin to turn with increased frequency of revolution. |
