Eleven on a higher level at the time of the explosion escaped, but the others on the lower level were entombed. J-Jifjht bodies have been recovered by rescue workers. The explosion occurred .lust after the night shift had gone to work. The Allan shaft, one of tlie most productive pro-ductive in Canada, is also one of the most dangerous.
