Show LOCAL FIRM CLOSES 1 IMP 0HI1T DEAL Famous Godchaux Ranch in Nevada Sold to Union Land & Cattle Co. Ono of the largest land deals of tlie year has just been closed by Kimball & Richards, "Land Merchants," whereby where-by they turn over to the Union Land & Cattle company their big ranch in the Paradise valley, Nev., known as the famous Godchaux ranch. This great property, consisting of 18,552 acres, is located' about twelve miles north of Winucmucca, and has long been famous fa-mous among stock men throughout the west. The property, which originally consisted of about twenty small ranches, was consolidated into ono large tract in M6L' by Lazarus Godchaux, God-chaux, ono of the big cattle kings of pioneer days. Upwards of 10,000 head of cattle havo been pastured at one time on this big ranch. Over forty-five forty-five miles of fencing x required to inclose in-close the land, and many miles of cross-fencing cross-fencing is also used to separate the various pastures and hay fields. Over 8000 acres of this land is used for raising rais-ing hay, and the balance is chiefly in pasture and mountain land. The latter lat-ter runs well into the surrounding hills and high mountains, thereby fully controlling con-trolling the. water supply. While no definite information has been given out regarding the sale price of this big nincli, it is known that a recent conservative appraisement placed a value of $10 per acre on the property. prop-erty. The purchaser, the Union Land & Cattle company, consists of a group of tho largest cattle and sheep men in the west, and it is understood that the dominating figures in the corporation corpora-tion are Messrs. Humphries and jMof-fatt. jMof-fatt. This company maintains its principal prin-cipal office at Keno, Nev., with addition;,! ad-dition;,! offices at San Francisco and other large cities throughout the United Unit-ed States. These gentlemen aro said to be the most extensive dealers in livestock and wool in tho western country, and it is learned from reliable sources that over ".7,000,000 pounds of wool were sold In t liem last vear. Kimball & Richards state that they have anothVr group of pro-ipoctivo buyers buy-ers now considering the purchase of a large ;)0n,000-aere raindi in northern Utah. They ulso say that there have been more inquiries ror Tanches this year tlmn for the last ten years. The prevailing prevail-ing demand for beet' and uiutinii t'nr food and the rising price of woo and leather has had a wond'-rl'iil el't'oct in stimulating this demand. Horses wero never so scarce, seemingly, as at present, pres-ent, and with the big demand in Europe and for tho United States . army, horsemen are reaping the greatest great-est profits in the history of the livestock live-stock industry. Kimball & Richards predict a stronger market for' ranches during the coming twelve months than ever before in America, and are therefore there-fore securing favorable listings and options op-tions on many of the best properties in the west. |
