Show W, F. CULMER LEAVES, FOR COWL FIELDS Local Expert Plans to Personally Per-sonally Investigate the California Situation, W. F. Culm or, general manager of the Culmers company, left. Saturday for an extended trip to California and will visit the oil ficlfls at Bakcrsfield while away. The fact that the demand for lubricating lubri-cating oils still greatly exceeds the supply sup-ply in the eastern and middle west fields makes it necessary for the refiner re-finer and jobber to look elsewhere for future supplies, and Mr. Cuhner will carefully study tho California situation with a view of determining the quality of the oils produced there, the adaptability adapta-bility to local conditions, aud the possibility pos-sibility of obtaining adequate tank car service and favorable freight rates. Upon Mr. Culmer 's findings hinges the decision of the Culmers company to handle the coast oil. If high-grade oils can be shipped in here at a saving sav-ing to the consumer, the Culmers company com-pany will certainly give the matter serious se-rious consideration. Mr. Culmer said before leaving: (I hope California will furnish us the means of checking further advances in price oi lubricating oil, but unless the California crudes are of high quality, we cannot use them, as we will not jeopardize the splendid reputation of Culco oils by allowing inferior products to 'be put out under the Culco label. ' ' It is certain we will be unable to find anything on the coapr, of sufficiently suffi-ciently hi:fh quality to produce Cresta. our oil dp luxe, but if is very probable ! I liar some of the lower grade oils can I be midc from the Cnlifornia pnnics and ! placed on the market at prices very i lavurabltf to the consumer. |
