Theatrical touring companies will he seriously handicapped hy a threatened r.ew war regulation which will come into effect next month, prohib-f prohib-f 1 iling the carrying of stage scenery on the 1 ' railronds. The order as dratted also provides pro-vides that members of theatrical companies com-panies en route may travel on Fridays only. ' The secretary of the Theatrical Managers' Man-agers' association, in a vigorous protest, ays: ! "The prohibition of scenery will bring us back to twenty-live years ago. when the majority of the small city theaters provided their own scenery. An enormous t amount of reorgn nizat ion will be neces sary. Traveling on Friday Is also ex-tremely ex-tremely unsatisfactory. Apart from mean-j mean-j ing the loss of one business day, the Saturday Sat-urday afternoon matinee will be lost except ex-cept in the case of towns near London.
