Show NEW CHINESE REVOLT. Dr. Sun Yat Sen has undertaken the job of overturning the present government govern-ment of China, having been appointed commander-in-chief of the army and navy of the new government set up by seventy members of the old parliament assembled in Canton. The military governor gov-ernor of Canton, however, is not favorable favor-able to the new revolutionary movement move-ment and Dr. Sun Yat Sen may not be able to start for Pekin until he has cleaned up the loyalists in his immediate imme-diate vicinity, which may not be so easy to accomplish. Sun Yat Sen was the first provisional president of China after the overthrow of the Manchu dynasty, which movement he planned and helped execute. Yuan Shi Kai soon became the head of the republican government gov-ernment and Sun Yat Sen had no part or lot in the conduct of affairs. . He has been planning revolutions ever since. He is a radical, but perhaps China Chi-na would have been better off if he had retained control when the Manchus were thrust from power. He certainly could not have done any worse than Yuan and he might have brought lasting last-ing peace to the country. |
