Contracting for the sale and distribution distribu-tion of nearly a million dollars' worth of Maxwell automobiles during the next twelve months, and embracing territory which ncludes all of the state- of Utah, as well as a big slice of Wyoming and the southern section of Idaho, the Sun Motor Sales company was formally launched last week to take its place with the leading motor car concerns of the intermountain west. . t Negotiations carried on for some time between J. O. Gates, sales manager man-ager of the Sun Motor Sales company, and W. J. LaCasse, western manager for the Maxwell Motor Sales corporation, corpora-tion, came to a definite conclusion last week through E. D. Suitor, representing Mr. LaCasse, who was obliged to return re-turn to the coast before negotiations were completed', when the representative representa-tive of the big Detroit factory and the Sun Motor Sales company head affixed their names to a contract which gives the new concern distribution rights to the Maxwell for the entire territory mentioned above and places the responsibility respon-sibility for adequate service to MaxweU owners in the hands of the Sun Motor Sales company V officials. Organize Sales Force. Anticipating the consummation of the negotiations, the officials or! the Sun Motor Sales company have been at work for some weeks organizing a complete staff and arranging for suitable quarters. quar-ters. Realizing that to accommodate a business of the tremendous proportions that is bound to obtain with the handling han-dling of so popular a line as the Maxwell, Max-well, the Sun Motor Sales company decided de-cided that there was no available space sufficient to do the new line .-justice, so arrangements were immediately made for the construction of a new two-story building on West Fourth South street, in the heart of automobiletown, that will measure 66 feet wide by loo feet deep and be devoted entirely to the selling of Maxwell cars and rendering Maxwell service. This building, which is now in course of construction, will be ready by November 10. Meanwhile the Maxwell will enjoy a temporary home with the Federsp'iel Motor company com-pany on Main street. About thirty sub-agencies in Utah, Idaho and Wyoming are alreadv in operation op-eration to push the sale of Maxwell passenger cars and trucks. The officials of the Sun Motor Sales company are all veterans in the automobile auto-mobile game and are thoroughly equipped in experience to guide the new concern to a successful future. Officials Are Prominent. j. C. Moore, who occupies the president's presi-dent's chair in the new concern, is well known in local automobile circles as distributor of Federal tires. Mr. Moore will continue in the tire business, leaving leav-ing the active executive work of the new concern to J. B. Middleton, a well-known well-known Utah business man, who is secretary sec-retary and treasurer as well as business manager of the new concern. Mr. Middleton will be ably supported by J. O. Gates, who is vice president and sales manager of the company and was largely responsible for its organization. organi-zation. Mr. Gates has been connected with the automobile business locally for .some time and has won a place of distinction dis-tinction in the local motor world. The company is strongly financed and is in a position to do the Maxwell line justice in every way. One of the principle features of the new company's propaganda will be service. Sales Manager Gates states that special emphasis will be laid on this feature of selling Maxwell cars and that old customers as well as new will find the Sun Motor Sales company ready and anxious to render every assistance as-sistance and advice possible to make every Maxwell owner a pleased owner. To make Maxwell service even more vnluable to Maxwell owners, he states thatt not only the Salt Lake head of- i fice, but also he branches and sub- j I dealers will cai-y rull and complete ; stocks of parts and that replacements j will be made without delay. |
