The 1017 football for the Utah Ajics was piveu a rousing rous-ing start yesterday afternoon at the Fanners ' campus, where Coach Jack Watson conducted the first practice of the season. Swede Liiulquist, Andy .Mohr, JJes Jarvis, Kiner Olson, Captain Twiti-hel and Clyde Worlcy. -Many more will be a-lded to the squad, the r'irst tew days tiiis week, as school does not really open until Monday morn in;,', and most of the boys froi'u out of Logan will come in Sunday night, according to word received by" Coach " ' " Watson. During the week some changes and new innovations were brought about by the school faculty as far as athTetics i's concerned. First and most important is the new regulation making athletics compulsory for all male students'. This 1 is designated to bring in every boy who needs physical development into the gymnasium or field for different kinds of work. The new course will consist of calesthenics, and different kinds of drills and exercises which will be somewhat on a military order an,d tend to make every man physically fit for a physical examination as strenuous as those prescribed by tDe army. According Accord-ing to the athletic committee the new ; course will not be made unpleasant, but will be very interesting and will not inconvenience any student as af-i'eMin" af-i'eMin" his school work. Every boy who does not know how to swim will be taught to do so and will have the use cf the well-equiped gymnasium and swimminc pool. It. is expected that those who report for football will be exenmted from the other athletic work during the season at least. According to Coach Watson, the work and co-operation of every man on the lootball team is the only thing necessary neces-sary for the success of the farmers this fall. Watson has a squad of fast men together, most of whom htive had a wealth of experience in high schools hrfore coming to the A. C. For back-field back-field work he has Percv Hansen, Stubby Petersen, Ted Reunion, A'len Conk-wriLrht, Conk-wriLrht, Finer Olson, Les Jarvis, and at least a half dozen other eood men ; that will make a fnt and hep.dy com bination. For the line there is" Mohr, Lin d nu is , Twitch. el. Cannon. Gar ier, Xeelcv, Anderson. HoH. Wor'ey. Nielsen. Niel-sen. Hendricks and others that will make up a fine defense combinction with practice. Watson is not making anv predictions as yet. but will be in a position to j u d z e as to the Aggies' chances in another week or ten viavs when the squad will have started the heavy work. The Aeries will have a strong aggregation aggre-gation of freshmen this vear, a a number num-ber of former high school stars will register at the college this week.
