' Twenty -two Land Sales. A total of twenty-two land sales were held at which school, industrial school, .science school, normal school, university, univer-sity, penitentiary, agricultural college, charitable institution, insane asylum and public building lauds were disposed of. There were 47.700.90 acres of school land., ;j.-1S3.27 acres of industrial indus-trial school, 40 acres of school of science, sci-ence, 1911.1 acres of normal school, 1909.11 acres of university, 6100 acres of penitentiary, 2-l.SJ.7Ci acres of agricultural agri-cultural college, 13,850.31 acres of charitable char-itable institution, .113.98 acres of insane in-sane asylum and ojS.HI acres of public building land sold during the year. The total cash receipts of the state land department for the year from January Jan-uary 1, 1917, to December 1, 1!17 amounted to $66,26j.74. A total of 222 deeds were issued covering 15,377.60 acres. The total number of farm loan mortgages in force amount to $2,9-18,-518, an increase of $700,000 over 1916. The department averaged three loans a day running in amount from $300 up to $5000. These loans are made on a basis of one-third of the appraised valuation. The interest rate is 6 per cent and the maximuni amount that can be borrowed bor-rowed by any individual $5000. The total cash receipts for leases during the eleven months amounted to $1.41, (506. 02. Grazing land is leased at 10 cents per acre and agricultural land for 50 cents per acre. All leases are made subject, to the sale, of the land. |
