Show IRISH TROOPS WIN FIOITIPfiLESfflE General Allenby Makes Another An-other Considerable Gain North of Jerusalem. LONDON. Dec. 2D. The British have made another considerable advance in the neighborhood of Jerusalem, the Turks having, been beaten back on a front of thirteen miles. The official (statement concerning the Palcs.ne campaign tonight to-night says: General Allenby reports that on Friday Fri-day his troops continued to drive back the enemy and advance their line to a depth of about two miles on a front of thirteen miles. The advance lias given us the high grounds of Raa Arkub and Es Stiffa four miles from Jerusalem and one mile north of the Jericho road Analaerram and Kulundia. the last two. respectively, eaet and west of the Naballa road and five or six mllea north of Jerusalem and Beitimia. The Irish troops met considerable opposition, which they overcame in spite of the difficulties of the ground. Although the enemy is falling back, the generally rough ground and the mountainous nature of the country make pursuit slow and difficult. Our airplanes bom lied the enemy's troops and transports on the Nahalla road all day of the 2Sth with great effect. |
